Dear Momma

Sunday, November 5, 2017
I couldn't let this year go by without contributing to Breast Cancer Awareness month I know I'm late but this is something dear to my heart. I know many families have been affected by this deadly disease and I can relate to their pain.
Statistics say that 1out of 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. In 2006 tragedy struck our family and we lost my granny to breast cancer it was June 7, 2006 which is the day before my birthday. I remember it like yesterday the night before my grandmother was in so much pain and there's was nothing I could do to comfort her. If I knew that was the last time I would see her alive I would have told her I loved her a few more times or hugged her a little tighter.  It's extremely heart breaking to watch anyone suffer from this disease. In April of 2006 my grandmother was admitted to the hospital and the doctors told us she had six months to live. At the time I was a junior in high school so everyday after school I would catch the bus to go be with her. After the doctors sent her home because there was nothing else they could do for her I moved in with her and my aunt to help care for her. Most of the time when they are in the later stages of cancer such as stage 3 or stage 4 they are always drugged up to ease the pain.  At this point the cancer has already damaged their organs and now it into their bones. I'm so grateful to have spent her last days with her but I miss her so much. To the families affected by this disease I pray that you find so peace with missing your loved one and just remember that they are no longer suffering. To my Breast Cancer Survivors you all are my hero's and I commend you for your strength.
